Elevate Games Anniversary Update
By: Evan1Sonic. Today marks the second anniversary of Elevate Games, and with it, I’m bringing some changes to what we do in order to help grow our future.
Expect bigger and better articles from us with less content output overall. A piece of wisdom I keep thinking back to is the phrase quality over quantity. While for the longest time, I’ve tried to do both with our content at Elevate Games, the more I work on projects and continue to keep up the same cadence of posting, the more I realize I can’t do both without sacrificing one. So with that in mind, from this point on, expect to see less content output on the website. I’m still writing and will continue to do so, but from now on, it’ll be on better pieces of content and more opinion pieces. I have a couple of big articles that I’m nearly finished with, and those will be a taste of what to expect from the future of Elevate Games. A focus on what I desire to create over the normal formats and patterns is something I’m going to hone in on from this point forward. Waiting until the content I create is ready, as opposed to when it would be best to release it, before finalizing an article and hitting post, is another thing I’ll be focusing on when working on future projects. Reviews, opinion pieces, and other written pieces aren’t going anywhere; they’ll just be spaced out more, with a bigger gap between each as I work to make the next one better than the last.
A pause on new Sunday Scoops articles. Starting this week and continuing for an undetermined amount of time, there won’t be any new Sunday Scoops articles. The numbers just aren’t there to make up for all the time and effort I put in to make those news recaps every week. Speedy Scoops will continue on our Instagram, which you should follow here. There’s also a new graphic format for these, which you might have seen with last week's set of stories. Sunday Scoops will return at some point in the future, but for the time being, it’ll be on a bit of a hiatus.
More sharing of news on social media. I’m eager to try out some alternate ways to spread all the latest gaming news, and this is one of them. While I’m not fully sure to what extent this will pan out, the idea is that all the latest news will be delivered right to you via social media in a timely manner. It’ll take a bit of time before I perfect what will work best for us, but expect to see more news-oriented posts all over our social media soon.
No more PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass recap articles. This was a tough call to make, as I’ve been writing those recaps since starting Elevate Games, but it’s a call I feel best benefits us as a company. Not having to write those pieces for the future frees me up to spend time creating other pieces of content, many of which I know will perform and be better articles. Again, tying back to the social media change, I’ll be posting each of the respective announcements for new games coming to those services on our social media pages, so that way you won’t miss anything.
A pivot to more video content. With attention spans getting shorter and shorter, many don’t have any interest in reading a long article or written piece. As someone who often prefers video content over written content, I can’t blame them. Our content here at Elevate Games has been nearly one hundred percent written, and I firmly believe it’s time to change that. While I’m not at the point of fully pivoting our content to video and leaving the writing in the past, I will be making more short-form videos similar in design to our quick reviews on social media. Video content is the future, and while I’m still focused on creating written work, videos from us will be a new bonus on top of our website content.
Why I’m making these changes. There are several factors in this decision, and to be transparent, I’m going to list a few here. A huge one is time. As I stated above, these changes will free up time, both for myself outside of this content and for me to work on other bigger Elevate Games projects. I also want to make it clear that this isn’t a sudden decision. I’ve been thinking about scaling back certain aspects of what we do here at Elevate Games for months. I just wanted to finalize everything and give myself some time to mull it over to ensure I made the right call for both myself and my health, and you guys as well as the company. I feel that for quite a bit, I've been doing the same thing and hoping for a different result or a viral post. Well, I’ve done that for quite a bit of time, and with but a few examples of results, it’s time to swap things up. I have no doubt in my mind that the choices I’ve detailed here will be for the best, and they’ll propel our content to be better than ever.
Whether this is your first time checking us out or you’ve been with us since the beginning, thank you. This website has changed my life for the better, and I’m proud to look back on everything we’ve done and written, all the games we’ve covered, and more. Considering it’s just me, I think I’ve done an incredible job these past two years and grown quite a bit. Here’s to many more years of Elevate Games!
Thanks for reading and Game On!!
