Sonic Origins, a collection of classic Sonic games, got a new trailer. This compilation brings Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles to modern consoles. Additions to the classic games include new modes that weren’t in the original titles, an in-game museum, and more. Play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles in four classic Sonic titles when Sonic Origins launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC on June 23rd, 2022.

Sonic Speed Simulator, a new experience featuring Sonic and crew, comes to Roblox. Eggman has returned to his wicked schemes, kidnapping some Electric Chao in order to harness their life force to power Metal Sonic. Save the Chao and blast through a new chemical plant zone when Sonic Speed Simulator comes to Roblox on June 11th, 2022. You can also unlock an Amy Chao by using the code Sonic Central.

Sonic Forces and Sonic Dash are getting new characters, both from the recent Sonic movies and elsewhere. In October, Mephiles the Dark will come to Sonic Forces, and Super Shadow will also come to Sonic Forces in November. Additionally, Sir Percival will be available in Sonic Forces and Sonic Dash later this year.

Sonic Prime, the new animated series centered around Sonic and his crew, got a short teaser. While this teaser was very short, we got a glimpse of Sonic, Tails, and Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic Prime is coming soon to Netflix. 

Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The second movie in the Sonic the Hedgehog series is coming to Blu-Ray. Deleted scenes, bloopers, and an all-new animated short called Sonic Drone Home, set after the events of the film, are included in this release. Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which is already available digitally, will be released on Blu-ray on August 9th, 2022.

New Sonic merchandise. Some new Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise and products were shown at the event. The full list of products is: GFUEL energy formula, Jakks Pacific figures, a Razer Sonic Xbox controller, Moor Art silk screen prints, New Hype clothing and accessories, First 4 Figures collectibles of Amy and Tails, Pez Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles dispensers, an EXG Sonic controller holder, Neamedia figures, and a Bellfine soft figure of Sonic. The majority of this merchandise is currently available, although some items will be available soon.

This year, the Sonic 30th Symphony will be performed both virtually and in person. In comparison to last year's event, there will be a few new surprises, but most of the symphony will remain the same. Tour dates and additional information will be announced soon.

Fall Guys, the battle royal platformer game from Mediatonic, is going Free to Play on June 21st and this August will be getting both a Sonic and Knuckles skin.

Sonic Frontiers Prologue is a new animated short that we got a short glimpse of today. This short appears to follow Knuckles and will explain what happened before the beginning of Sonic Frontiers. We don't know anything else about this, but we won't have to wait long to learn more because it'll be released this year, in advance of the game's release.

Sonic Frontiers, the new open-world platformer game from Sonic Team, got a new trailer showcasing some gameplay. Despite the fact that this was a brief trailer, the basic concept of an open-world Sonic game was enough to pique my interest when the title was originally revealed. Each showing since the initial reveal has looked better than the last, including this one. I just hope the game sticks the landing. Sega concluded the show by stating that more information about the game would be coming soon. Sonic Frontiers launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC in Holiday 2022.

This event was unremarkable, and even with its short length, I feel like it could’ve just been an email or Twitter thread. My favorite game shown at this event was Sonic Frontiers. My excitement increases every time I see the game. I just hope the game sticks the landing when it launches this year. You can watch the full event here.
