By: Evan1Sonic. From Street Fighter VI to Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, here is a recap of everything shown at the Summer Games Fest in June.
Street Fighter VI is a fighting game from Capcom. We learned about a new character and saw new gameplay footage during the game's most recent showing at this event. With his Sonic Boom and Flash Kick moves, Guile will join Ryu, Chun-Li, Luke, and Jamie on the roster. A new stage themed around him was also revealed, which, like all of his previous stages, has a fighter jet in the background. The three game modes in Street Fighter 6 are: Fighting Ground, which focuses on the basic fighting game experience with modes from previous Street Fighter games; World Tour, "an immersive single-player story experience," and Battle Hub, which sounds like a social area for player communication. Become the best fighter in the world when Street Fighter 6 launches on PS4 and PS5 in 2023.
Aliens: Dark Descent is a single-player squad-based top-down action game from Tindalos Interactive. You must lead a team in real-time to stop a terrifying Xenomorph breakout on Moon Lethe in this game set in the Alien universe. You can select from one of five classes for your squad members, as well as customize your squad, level them up, and more. Stop a Xenomorph outbreak when Aliens Dark Descent when Alien: Dark Descent launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2023.
The Callisto Protocol is a sci-fi survival horror game from Striking Distance Studios. We got an extended look at gameplay during the game's most recent appearance at this event. This gameplay section featured some bloody clashes as well as a new weapon known as the Grip. Enemies were grabbed and thrown into fans with this new weapon. The game is set in the year 2320 on Jupiter’s moon Callisto. A man named Jacob Lee, an inmate at Black Iron Prison, must fight to survive when a strange outbreak throws the moon into chaos and turns people into horrific creatures. Defeat any biophage in your path and uncover dark secrets as you try to escape from this twisted prison. The Callisto Protocol comes to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on December 2nd, 2022.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a FPS game from Infinity Ward. We got an extended look at campaign gameplay at this event. Dark Water is the name of the level in this gameplay sample. You join Task Force 141 as they infiltrate a cargo ship, fight their way through it, and then hunt down another one by driving their boat right into it. There are dozens of opponents and shipping containers rolling around on the deck of the second ship, giving the game a continuously shifting battlefield and Task Force 141 spaces to run across from one encounter to the next. This section of gameplay looked great, with stunning visuals and intense firefights. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 28th, 2022.
Flashback 2 is a cinematic platformer game from Microids. The sequel to the classic PC game Flashback got a new trailer at this showcase. The year is 2142, and humanity has been infiltrated by shape-shifting aliens. The game will feature both old and new settings, such as Neo Washington and Neo Tokyo. Return to the world of Flashback thirty years after the first game when Flashback 2 launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC this winter, with a Switch version coming in 2023.
Witchfire is a dark fantasy FPS game from The Astronauts. We got to see some new gameplay for this title during this event. The Church, desperate for an advantage in the battle against witches, uses prohibited magic to transform sinners into immortal witch hunters. Your job is to hunt down the evil witch of the Black Sea, defeat the phantom army that defends her, and acquire a strange artifact that will finally shift the tide of the war, armed with magical spells and strong weaponry. Witchfire enters early access on PC in the fourth quarter of 2022 and will come to other platformers later on.
Fort Solis is a sci-fi third-person thriller game from Fallen Leaf. In this story-driven game, you'll visit a variety of locations and use a number of methods to get around. Wyatt Taylor is voiced by Troy Baker, a medical officer at Fort Solis who is "at times in opposition to Roger's character," according to Baker. In addition, Roger Clark voices Jack Leary, a maintenance engineer on a remote Martian mining station whose mission is to ensure that no equipment fails. Explore the Mars mining outpost around you when Fort Solis launches on PC soon.
Routine is a sci-fi horror game from Lunar Software. This game is set inside an abandoned lunar station, designed around an ‘80s vision of the future. You’ll use your Cosmonaut Assistance Tool to hack various computer systems around the station while you evade creepy robotic enemies when Routine launches on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC soon.
Outriders Worldslayer is an action-adventure RPG third-person looter shooter game from People Can Fly. Drop-in and drop-out at any time and experience new environments, enemies, and features in this Outriders expansion. Face the challenges of Enoch with your friends in co-op when Outriders Worldslayer launches for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Google Stadia on June 30th, 2022.
Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout is a battle royal platformer party game from Mediatonic. Many new features, obstacles, rounds, and more are being added to Fall Guys in this new season that's starting in a few weeks. Become the last one standing when Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout goes free-to-play and launches for Switch and new-gen platforms on June 21st, 2022.
Stormgate is an RTS game from Frost Giant Studios. There will be traditional 1v1 fights, but they will be backed up by a tournament system built into the game. Within the title itself, you'll be able to form leagues, teams, and rivalries. Three players will be able to take on AI opponents in the co-op 3vE mode, and story-driven campaign missions will be playable with a friend. Beyond competitive and cooperative modes, the game will also have an in-game editor. Stormgate will be available in open beta on PC next year.
Highwater is a narrative-focused isometric survival game with turn-based combat from Demagog. In this game’s universe, the ultra-rich are said to be fleeing the doomed and near-flooded world and travelling to Mars. Navigate streets by boat and see a variety of post-apocalyptic landmarks. Attempt to survive long enough to hopefully sneak aboard the elite’s rocket when Highwater launches on PC and mobile later this year.
American Arcadia is a 2.5D puzzle-platformer side-scroller game from Out of the Blue. This game takes place in a retro-futuristic city where everyone lives in luxury. They have no idea that they are being broadcast live 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and that if the ratings dip, they will be killed. You can control two characters with completely different play styles. The first plays like a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer containing platforming, chases, stealth, and puzzles, while the second plays like a 3D first-person with hacking, exploration, and stealth elements. Escape the televised utopia, Arcadia, alive when American Arcadia launches on PC and consoles soon.
Goat Simulator 3 is a game from Coffee Stain Studios. Pilgor the goat is back in Goat Simulator 3, this time in San Angora (a new location). According to Coffee Stain, this place features "hidden secrets, quests, collectibles," and an ending. Multiplayer has been introduced to the sequel, allowing up to four people to roam about as a herd of goats. Hats, gear that gives goats new abilities, and other accessories are available for these goats. There is no such thing as "Goat Simulator 2," and this title is a continuation of the first. Wreck chaos as a goat when Goat Simulator 3 launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC this fall.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a tactical RPG game from Firaxis. In the trailer revealed during this event, we got to see some familiar Marvel heroes and villains. Spider-Man joins the roster of heroes, and he'll be voiced by Yuri Lowenthal (although he won’t be the same Spider-Man in the PlayStation games). Lilith, the Mother of Demons, is joined by corrupted versions of Venom, Sabertooth, Scarlet Witch, and the Hulk in this trailer. She’s up to some very demonic things, as usual. It will be your mission as The Hunter, a new, original hero, to create a team of heroes to take down Lilith and her Hydra allies. Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Blade are just a few of the Marvel characters you can enlist to aid you in your battle against evil. Stop Lilith and save the world when Marvel’s Midnight Suns launches for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 7th, 2022. The game will also come to Switch at a later date.
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course is DLC for the beautiful, run-and-gun action indie game Cuphead. At this event, we got a new gameplay trailer focused on a new boss in an icy arena. Play in new levels, battle against new bosses, use new weapons and charms, and play as a new character when Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course launches for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC on June 30th, 2022.
