Everything Shown at the Splatoon 3 Direct

New abilities, stages, and weapons. Two new abilities, the Squid Surge and the Squid Roll, were revealed for the game at this event. Squid Surge allows you to blast up a wall in one quick burst, and Squid Roll allows you to jump and spin around in midair while submerged in ink to evade enemy attacks. Splatoon 3 brings some new stages to battle on, including Scorch Gorge, Eeltail Alley, Mincemeat Metalworks, and Undertow Spillway. The stages Museum D’Alfonsino, Hammerhead Bridge, Mahi-Mahi Resort, and more will return from previous games. More stages will also come to the game in future free updates. All the previous weapon types will return in this title along with new ones such as the bow-like Tri-Stringer and the sword-like Splatana Wiper. The Tacticooler, Reefslider, and Wave Breaker special weapons are yet another set of new content in this game. The Tacticooler resembles a fridge and gives you or your teammates four different drinks that give you a buff. By using the Reefslider, you can build up power and charge into the stray with an explosion. Lastly, the Wave Breaker sends waves that make opponents appear on your radar as long as they don’t jump over the waves. The Ink Storm, Booyah Bomb, and more will also return from previous titles. New weapons will also come to the game in future updates.

Shops, customization, and battle modes. When looking for weapons, Sheldon's shop is your best friend. Using Sheldon Licenses earned from leveling up in battles and more, you’ll be able to buy new weapons that are equal to your level. Headgear, clothes, and shoe retailers can also be found in Splatsville to drip out your Inkling or Octoling. You’ll also be able to set up preset outfit loadouts to change between in a flash. In the lobby, you’ll be able to invite your friends to your battles, join theirs, and design your own locker that other players can view. The general store has things you can buy to put in your locker and more. You're able to set up a banner, badge, title, and celebration emote for yourself, along with customizing splashtags. Every few months, there will be a new catalog that brings new emotes and more to the game. Anarchy Battles is a high-intensity playlist for those that want to put their skills to the test. This playlist rotates between Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker, and Clam Blitz. Additionally, the game will feature private online battles and a test range in which you can practice using your loadout.

New card minigame, Tableturf Battle. Tableturf, a card-based battle minigame, was announced. There will be over a hundred and fifty cards to collect, and you’ll be able to build your own deck to battle NPCs. Every player will also be gifted an in-game starter deck.

The Salmon Run mode returns. The four-player co-op mode Salmon Run will return in this game. In order to win a match of Salmon Run, you must collect and bank a set number of golden eggs. Beware of strong foes such as the Big Shot, who fires deadly missiles at you from afar. Right before finishing each match, you’ll have to face a huge King Salmonid. You will not be helpless against these bosses, however, because you will be equipped with an egg cannon from which you can use to fire golden eggs at them Also, an occasional event titled “Big Run” was teased to happen every few months.

All the other details. The game was confirmed to have a single-player campaign, though not much of it was shown. Mailbox art will also return. There will be a Crab-in-Go food stand that will serve food that gives you various buffs. In the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app, there will be a Splatoon 3 section in which you can view your stats, buy items, and more. New Splatoon 3 Amiibo will be available this holiday, and previously released Splatoon figures can be used to gain items in-game. X Battle and League battle modes will come to the game post-launch in an update. Some form of paid DLC is also planned for Splatoon 3. Frye, Shiver, and Big Man are Deep Cut, the crew that hosts the local news that shares what maps and modes are in the current rotation. You can check this news while doing other things instead of having to stop what you're doing to tune in like in previous titles in the series. Additionally, the game will have photo, replay, and recon modes.

Tricolor Turf War and Demo. Unsurprisingly, Splatfests will return in Splatoon 3. This time around, however, there will be three teams to choose between. Halfway through each Splatfest special mode, Tricolor Turf War, where three teams battle against each other to spread the most ink, will open up until the end of the event. In the Splatfest world premiere demo, you can play the game prerelease. In this demo, you will choose to join the rock, paper, or scissors team and help guide them to victory. The Splatfest world premiere demo will be available on August 27th from 9am to 9pm PT.
