Sunday Scoops 01/29/23

It’s Sunday, and that means it's time to talk about all the gaming news this week

By: Evan1Sonic. This week has been a steady week of news, with a big event from Xbox showcasing a ton of games, The Day Before being delayed, and more. Without further ado, it’s time for the first Sunday Scoops of the year.

The Day Before Delayed To This November. If you were counting down the days until this title's release, then you’ll be disappointed to hear about its delay. This post-apocalyptic open-world survival game has been hotly anticipated by many. For a period, it was even the second-most-wishlisted game on Steam (behind only Hogwarts Legacy). Earlier this week, the developers, Fntastic, released a statement announcing a delay. While originally it was claimed that this delay was due to Steam blocking their game page due to a trademark claim on the name “The Day Before,” when speaking to IGN they said the delay was going to happen anyway. Whatever caused this delay, the developer is confident it will have the trademark dispute solved by the new release date and plans to use any extra time to improve the game. The Day Before now launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on November 10th, 2023.

News From the Xbox Developer Direct. The Xbox Developer Direct event that aired on January 25th featured five games coming soon to Microsoft platforms. Minecraft Legends and Forza Motorsport were the first shown, and each looked great. Some other highlights were Hi-Fi Rush, a new title from Tango Gameworks, being shadow-dropped, and new details on The Elder Scrolls Online’s next expansion being revealed. To round out the show, we got to see more smooth shooter gameplay of Redfall. This is just a short recap of what was shown at the Developer Direct, and you can read our full article about everything shown at the event here.
