Sunday Scoops 02/27/22

By: Evan1Sonic. It's Sunday, and that means it's time to talk about all the gaming news this week. This week has been a big week of news, with Street Fighter 6 getting a teaser trailer, Nier Automata receiving an anime adaption, Knockout City going free-to-play, and more.

Street Fighter 6 teaser trailer. Street Fighter 6, the newest entry in the Street Fighter series from Capcom, got a teaser trailer. This trailer opens on a buffed-up Ryu as he turns to face Luke the final character for Street Fighter 5. While nothing else was shown here Capcom states that more information about this title is coming this Summer. You can check out the trailer for Street Fighter 6 here.

NieR:Automata Anime is in the works. NieR:Automata, the 2017 action RPG game from Platinum Games, is getting an anime adaptation. This adaptation appears to closely follow the story of the game. While nothing else is known about this anime, as someone who hasn't played any of the Neir games, I'm excited to see more. You can check out the trailer for this adaptation here.

Aperture Desk Job, a new Portal spinoff game, is coming this March. You play as a new product tester for Aperture in this short experience in the Portal universe. While this game runs fine on PC Valve says that the game will be best experienced on their recently released Steam Deck portable console. It is important to note that this game is not a sequel to Portal but is more of a teck demo designed from the ground up for the Steam Deck. You can download this experience for free in Steam on March 1st, 2022. You can check out the trailer for Aperture Deck Job here.

First look at the design of the PlayStation VR2. The PSVR2, which is Sonys second Virtual Reality device, has an OLED display that can run at 2000x2040 resolution per eye and a refresh rate of 90HZ or 120HZ. This device features 4K HDR support, six-axis motion sensors, a 110-degree field of view, an IR proximity sensor, and more. For these unfamiler with any of these specs this VR headset looks like a massive improvement over Sonys original PSVR. This device is It is set to release before the end of this year. Currently Sony has not yet attached a price to this piece of hardware but I'd expect it to be over $400 (USD). You can check out the design of this headset at the PlayStation Blog here.

Knockout City is going free to play. Knockout City, the online dodgeball game, is transitioning into a free-to-play model this spring. Along with the game going free-to-play EA will stop publishing the game as Velan Studios will now be self-publishing Knockout City and it's content moving forward. For the players that bought the game you'll receive a special bundle that includes exclusive legendary cosmetics, XP boosts, and 2000 Holobux. You can read the full blog post from Velan Studios announcing this news here.

Pokémon Presents news. The Pokémon Company hosted a Nintendo Direct today, which featured new updates for many of their games and the official reveal of two brand new Pokémon titles. While I won't be talking about everything shown at this event but I'll recap the biggest news. Pokémon Legends: Arceus got a update today called Daybreak. This update adds new missions, battles at the training grounds, and more. Mass outbreaks now occur in the world and during these events some Pokémon will spawn in far greater numbers and the chances of finding a shiny version of that Pokémon are much higher. Also you will have to have completed the main story of Legends Arceus to engage in any of the content in this update. Also because it's Pokémon Day if you enter the special password "ARCEUSADVENTURE" in the mystery gifts menu before 8 am (PST) on March 31st, you'll recieve 30 Ultra Balls, Gigaton Balls, and Jet Balls. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the new games set in the 9th generation of Pokémon. The three starter Pokémon in these games are Sprigatito a grass type cat, Fuecoco a fire type crocodile, and Quaxly a water type duck. These two titles are releasing worldwide in Late 2022. You can watch the full Pokémon Presents event here.

That's all the big news this week. I’ll see you all next week for another gaming news recap. Did I miss any big news? Please let me know in the comments below.

Thanks for reading and Game On!!
