It’s Sunday, which means it's time to talk about all the gaming news this week

By: Evan1Sonic. This week has been a big one for news, with news from multiple showcases, including Summer Game Fest, Sony skipping Gamescom again this year, and more.

News from Summer Game Fest. Summer Game Fest this year featured dozens of titles from a plethora of companies. Some of those games include Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Sonic Superstars, and Sand Land. A few other highlights include the gameplay reveal of Mortal Kombat 1, Lies of P locking in a September 19th, 2023 release date, and Sony revealing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming to PS5 on October 20th, 2023. To round out the event, a new Final Fantasy VII Rebirth trailer premiered along with the new release window of early 2024. This lengthy summer event provided a great look at what to expect from the near future of gaming, and you can watch the full event here.

News from Day of the Devs. The Day of the Devs event that aired on June 8th featured just over a dozen indie titles coming soon. Some of those games include Hyper Light Breaker, Henry Halfhead, and Summerhill. A few other highlights include a look at Beastieball Wishes Unlimited’s new game, as well as Viewfinder locking in a July 18th, 2023 release date on PS5 and PC. To round out the event, a new Cocoon trailer was premiered, showcasing some gameplay from the puzzle adventure title. You can watch the full indie-focused event here.
