Ubisoft Forward - Quick Recap

By: Evan1Sonic. From Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora to Star Wars Outlaws, here is a quick recap of everything shown at the Ubisoft Forward event in June.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an action-adventure game from Massive Entertainment. Exploring the world of Pandora is a highlight, but the new trailer showcases skydiving, using guns and other weapons, and more. This title, while in the world of James Cameron’s film series, will feature a new story. As the official website states, “In this new, standalone story, play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora.” Full online co-op support is another bonus, though split screen isn’t supported. Explore a colorful world and protect it from the RDA forces that threaten it when Avatar Frontiers of Pandora releases for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on December 7th, 2023.

Some other announcements consisted of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown showcasing new gameplay ahead of its January 18th, 2024 release date, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR being revealed for Meta Quest, and The Division Resurgence, a new mobile title, being announced. Also, Assassin's Creed Mirage showcased an extended look at gameplay. This new entry in the Assassin’s Creed series launches for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna, and PC on October 12th, 2023.

A few upcoming titles announced beta tests at this event, including XDefiant with an open session from June 21–23, Skull and Bones with one from August 25–28, and Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade later this summer. Last but not least, The Crew Motorfest, the next title in the Crew series, has locked in a September 14th, 2023 release date with a closed beta set for July 21–23.

Captain Lazerhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix is an animated TV series from Ubisoft. This series, inspired by Far Cry 3’s Blood Dragon DLC, was revealed with a teaser trailer showcasing a lot of action and a bit of comedy as well. "The series is set in an alternative 1992 in the country formerly known as the USA. Now called Eden, it is a technocracy ruled by propaganda and corruption. Super-soldier Dolph Laserhawk has just been betrayed by the love of his life and locked up in Eden’s top security prison Supermaxx. He must now lead a team of rebel outcasts on risky undercover missions in order to survive." Ubisoft said about the storyline of this upcoming show. Fans of Ubisoft and the Blood Dragon DLC are sure to have a blast when Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix comes to Netflix this fall.

A handful of collaborations and new DLC for some Ubisoft titles were also shown at this event. This includes a Jet Set Radio event for Roller Champions and a Halo crossover event for Brawlhalla, which has Master Chief joining the fight. A glimpse at a Skate add-on for Riders Republic was also shown.

Star Wars Outlaws is an open-world action-adventure game from Massive Entertainment. While this title was previously announced at the Xbox Games Showcase, we got a first look at the gameplay with ten minutes of in-game footage. In this adventure set in a galaxy far, far away, you play as Kay Vess, a scoundrel seeking freedom and a new life. This extended look showcased a blaster fight against Pyke forces, speeder bike, and starship piloting, as well as wanted and choice systems, both of which bring consequences to your actions. Become an outlaw and set out on the journey to freedom and the start of a new life when Star Wars Outlaws releases on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC next year.

You can watch the full event here. This event was about average and provided a fine look at what to expect from Ubisoft in the future. My favorite game shown at this event was Star Wars Outlaws. I love Jedi: Fallen Order, and after playing some of its sequel, Jedi: Survivor, I couldn’t help but think of the possibilities of a fully open-world Star Wars game. Outlaws, the first open-world title from the franchise, looks like it’ll be a great new adventure, and I have hope it’ll live up to my expectations of an open-world Star Wars title. What was your favorite game shown at this event? Let me know in the comments below. It’s that summer season of gaming, so keep tuned in to Elevate Games for all the biggest news and event recaps all summer long.

I hope you enjoyed and Game On!!
