What Ya Playing Wednesday

By: Evan1Sonic. It's Wednesday, which means it's time to talk about the games you and I have played and/or enjoyed this past week. More information about where to send your submissions to be featured in the series will be at the bottom of this post. This week I've been playing Dying Light 2, Ooblets, and Splatoon 3.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is a parkour-focused open-world RPG game from Techland. Currently, I’m only a few main missions away from the end of the game. Parkour is the biggest part of this game, and it feels wonderful. I'll never get tired of climbing buildings, jumping across roofs, and zooming across the environment. Ascending the VNC Tower, the city's tallest tower, has been my favorite moment of the game so far. I used the glider to enjoy a nice glide back to the ground after reaching its roof, taking in the beautiful surroundings around me. Unfortunately, the combat is unexciting. Blocking, counterattacking, and dodging are all part of the simple melee combat system. This system is not awful, but it's also not that engaging. Unfortunately, the story isn't any better. As a whole, I’ve been disliking it, though this could be due to the fact that I haven’t been able to connect with it. There are still a few hours of story and an ending left to turn me around, however. While there are some big flaws in this game, I’m having a great time playing through it, and I think there’s a lot of fun to be had with it. While the combat and story aren’t the best, the parkour and RPG elements make this title well worth playing. If you'd like to read more about this game, I wrote a First Impressions article when it was released that you can find here. Dying Light 2 Stay Human is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with a Switch version coming soon.

Quick Play is this section of What Ya Playing where I share some of my short thoughts on games I’ve been playing lately.

Splatoon 3. I’ve played over four hours of this title, and I’m loving my time with it. The core gameplay of each game in the Splatoon series has always been great, and this title is the best in the series. I think this is an incredible game for series veterans and newcomers alike.

Ooblets. I’ve played about 2 hours of this game so far. Most of my time has been spent designing and managing my farm, but you can also help out the locals, battle and get new Ooblets, and more. If you’re a fan of farming sims and Pokémon games, then give this title a try.

We didn't receive any community submissions this week, but you can send your submissions to our email: contact@elevategames.net. I may also ask what games you’ve been playing recently on my social media accounts and on my Discord that you can join here. You can either submit the name of a game/s you've been playing or a bunch of text explaining what you enjoy (or don't) about that/these game/s. I look forward to hearing about what game/s you've been playing. Thanks.

This has been this week's What Ya Playing Wednesday. I'll see you all in two weeks for another article about what games you and I have recently played and/or enjoyed.

Thanks for reading and Game On!!
