Sunday Scoops 02/06/22

By: Evan1Sonic. It's Sunday and that means it's time to talk about all the gaming news this week. With Sony acquiring Bungie, Yacht Club Games' new title, and Grand Theft Auto 6 revealed to be in development, gaming news has been slow but steady this week.

Sony acquires Bungie. This is an ongoing story with more details to come but I'm only going to talk about the current deal today as a lot could change from now to the finalization of this deal. Sony announced that they are purchasing Bungie for 3.6 Billion dollars. Bungie is the studio behind the popular series' Halo and Destiny. This deal is still in the early stages so many things can change from now to the finalization of the acquisition. I'm excited to see what this deal means for any future Bungie games.

You can now link your PlayStation account to Discord. You can now link your Playstation account to your Discord account to share what games you’re playing. This is a minor but welcome addition to Discord's features. You can check out how to link your accounts here.

It Takes Two is going to be adapted for film/television. Hazelight Studios is partnering with DJ2 Entertainment to bring It Takes Two to the big and small screen. I'm curious but unsure what the show and movie will look like. There isn't yet a studio or network associated with the project, and it's still in the early stages of development, so we most likely won't hear more about it for a while.

Yacht Club Games newest title got revealed at this year's Yacht Club Presents. Yacht Club Games, well known for creating the hit game Shovel Knight, is working on a new title called Mina the Hollower. Mina the Hollower is a top-down action-adventure game with Game Boy Color style visuals. This title is set in a gothic world and will have more RPG elements than previous Yacht Club titles. You can check out the game's Kickstarter page here.

Voice of Cards sequel announced. Alim's 2021 turn-based RPG title Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is getting a sequel. The first game along with the sequel shares the visuals of a tabletop RPG with everything in the world being made of cards. This game isn't a direct sequel and features many new characters. Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden launches on February 17th for PS4, Switch, and PC.

Gran Turismo 7 PlayStation State of Play News. On February 2nd PlayStation held a State of Play digital event focused on the new sim racing title Gran Turismo 7. The game looks beautiful with photorealistic graphics. Some new features include the Music Replay a mode that syncs a replay to music, Scapes a photo mode with expansive features, and the Music Rally a time attack style mode. You can check out my complete recap of the event at my old website here.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is confirmed to be in development. While it's been rumored multiple times Rockstar Games has confirmed that they are in active development on the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. Considering it's been over eight years since the last game I think the world is ready for a new (hopefully) groundbreaking GTA game.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is getting a next-gen upgrade. Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online are getting a next-gen upgrade. This upgraded version will feature new graphics modes with up to 4K visuals, up to 60 frames per second, ray-tracing, and more. You will be able to transfer over your save from the PS4/Xbox One version of the game to the PS5/Xbox Series X/S version. This upgrade is releasing on March 15th, 2022 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

That's all the big news this week. I’ll see you all next week for another gaming news recap. Did I miss any big news? Please let me know in the comments below.

Thanks for reading and Game On!!
