Sunday Scoops 03/06/22

By: Evan1Sonic. It's Sunday, and that means it's time to talk about all the gaming news this week. This week has been a slow week of news, with Kirby and the Forgotten Land receiving a demo, The House of the Dead: Remake getting a new trailer and release date, Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 getting next-gen updates, and more.

More details on Grand Theft Auto 5's current-gen upgrade. As previously announced Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online are getting a current-gen upgrade. However, we recently learned about the performance options that will be available, as well as the enhancements that will be made and how to transfer your save to the new version. You can play the game in either Fidelity Mode: native 4K resolution with ray tracing and 30 fps (upscaled 4K without ray tracing if you're playing on a Series S), Performance Mode: 60 fps with upscaled 4K resolution (1080p with 60 fps on the Series S), or Performance RT Mode: upscaled 4K resolution with ray tracing and 60 fps (this mode isn't available on the Series S). This new version of the game will feature faster load times, increased population, vegetation density, and traffic variety, as well as improved visuals and sounds. To upload your GTA 5 story progress, start the game, go to the pause menu, select the Game tab, and then Upload Save Game. You can only store one game save per platform, and this is a one-time migration. Also, keep in mind that you can only transfer saves between platforms within the same family, such as from an Xbox One to an Xbox Series X/S. If you have a Rockstar Social Account and play GTA Online, your data will be backed up and available for you when you upgrade to the current-gen version. This big updated version will be released on March 15th, 2022 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 are getting updates for the current-gen platforms. Three Resident Evil titles are getting new current-gen updates later this year. Ray tracing, enhanced frame rate support, 4K resolution, and other visual upgrades are included in these new versions. Additionally, all of these improvements will be available on PC in a future patch. The PlayStation 5 versions will also feature advanced haptic feedback with the DualSense controller. If you already own any of the games, you can get a free upgrade for those you currently own (within the same console family). These titles' current-gen upgrades will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2022.

Nintendo recently launched a missions and rewards system for Switch Online members. Out of the blue, Nintendo shadow dropped a missions and rewards system for Switch Online members. Weekly missions, such as playing an online game or a NES game, can be completed to earn elements that can be used to create new avatars. Each week, new avatar elements will be released, with new sets being released every month. The first set features Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Odyssey. Frames, backgrounds, and characters from Switch games are among these elements. The first set of limited icons will be available until April 4th, 2022, when new icons from other games will become available.
