Sunday Scoops 07/17/22

It’s Sunday, and that means it's time to talk about all the gaming news this week

By: Evan1Sonic. This week has been a steady week of news, with a new Kirby game coming this summer, new acquisitions, Bayonetta 3 locking in an October release date, and more.

Kirby’s Dream Buffet is rolling onto Switch soon. In this new Kirby game, challenge four other players to see who can devour the most strawberries. Each round will entail rolling through numerous obstacle courses with food-related themes while changing into desserts and gaining their characteristics. Everyone will get on a scale after the round to determine who consumed the most food and, thus, who won the round. Additionally, the game will support both local and online multiplayer. Race through each course and eat the most strawberries when Kirby’s Dream Buffet launches on Switch this summer.

New loyalty program PlayStation Stars announced. By completing various tasks and missions, you can earn rewards with the new PlayStation Stars service. Some examples include the monthly task of playing a game, or other missions such as winning tournaments, obtaining particular trophies, or even being the first person in your time zone to platinum a new game. You will receive points for completing these missions and tasks. These points can then be exchanged for various rewards, such as PSN wallet funds and select store items. Additionally, PlayStation Plus subscribers will automatically receive points for each PlayStation Store purchase they make. Along with points, you’ll be able to earn digital collectibles for completing specific missions. According to Sony, “Collectibles are as diverse as our portfolio of products and franchises. They are digital representations of things that PlayStation fans enjoy, including figurines of beloved and iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment, as well as cherished devices that tap into Sony’s history of innovation. There will always be a new collectible to earn, an ultra rare collectible to strive for, or something surprising to collect just for fun.” Additionally, Sony explicitly stated that these collectibles are not NFTs. The PlayStation Stars program will be free to join when it launches later this year.
