Sunday Scoops 07/31/22

It’s Sunday, and that means it's time to talk about all the gaming news this week

By: Evan1Sonic. This week has been a steady week of news, with the PS5 getting 1440p support among other features, Before Your Eyes releasing on mobile, a price increase for the Meta Quest 2, and more.

A new PS5 system software beta introduces 1440p support and more. Announced in a recent PlayStation Blog post, a new PS5 system software update is available for PlayStation beta testers. This update adds support for 1440p HDMI video output for monitors and other devices that support it. The game must also support it for you to be able to play at 1440p resolution, but thanks to supersampling, 4K games should also look better on 1440p displays. Gamelists are another new addition included in this update. This feature, which is similar to the folders you could make on PS4, allows you to create and manage custom lists of your games. While you will be limited to fifteen lists, with a max of one-hundred games on each, past that, your mind is the limit when sorting your games. You can also add the same game to multiple lists. This update will also bring a handful of other small additions designed to improve your PS5 experience. All these new features are currently available for beta testers and will arrive later this year for everyone else with a PS5.

Xbox Games With Gold. Earlier this week, Xbox revealed all of the games available to claim with Games with Gold in August. Calico, the first of these games, is a casual RPG game in which you rebuild a run-down cat cafe. It’s available to claim from August 1st to August 31st. From August 16th to September 15th, the action platformer game ScourgeBringer, set in a post-apocalyptic world, is available to claim. Rebuild the Saints in Saint’s Row 2, an open world action game, when the game comes to the service from August 1st to August 15th. The final game coming to Games with Gold is the action strategy game Monaco: What’s Yours is Mine. Sneak through nightclubs, yachts, and more in the hopes of pulling off the heist of a lifetime when the game comes to the service from August 16th to August 31st. These are all of the games coming to Xbox Gold. You can read our full article about the games coming to Xbox Gold here.
