What Ya Playing 08/24/22
Cursed To Golf is a rougelike sports game from Chuhai Labs. I’ve finished this game with about 70% completion. After a tragic event, a professional golfer finds himself in Golf Purgatory and must golf his way through an unfair world if he wants to ever return to the land of the living in this title. As a whole, I disliked this story, but the ending and cartoon-like style of writing made it a fun ride. The ability to stockpile helpful Ace cards to withdraw in a future run helped propel me past any roadblocks in my progress. From one run to the next, my skills improved until I began to feel like the professional golfer I should be. The best part of a rogue-like title is the craving to start a new run right after one has ended, and this game definitely has that craving. The foundational golf gameplay, however, never got stale and setting up and nailing perfect shots always felt great. If you’d like to learn more about the game, I wrote a full review for it that you can read here. Look no further if you're searching for a nice roguelike game with fantastic gameplay and a joyful narrative. I would also like to express my thanks to Chuhai Labs for providing a review code for this game. Cursed To Golf is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.
Quick Play is this section of What Ya Playing where I share some of my short thoughts on games I’ve been playing lately.
Before We Leave. I’m only a few hours in, but I’m having a fun time so far. I received a code for this city-builder title from Team17 and I’m not quite far enough into the game to be able to recommend it or not but stay tuned for possible future content about Before We Leave.
Stray. I’ve finished the game, and I’m so glad I did. This title executes the great core idea of being a cute stray cat to create a wonderful short-but-sweet experience that I can’t recommend enough.
The Wolf Among Us. I finished all five episodes of this title. This wasn’t my first Telltale game, so I was expecting a great story, but I was blown away. If you’re looking for a game with an incredible story, then look no further.
